On Tuesday, we took a group of students to Wimbledon to inspire some of our young tennis players. The students were selected to attend this trip due to their ongoing commitment to tennis throughout this academic year. They got to walk around Wimbledon and soak up the atmosphere as well as experiencing some exciting tennis on court 2. This included watching Maria Sharapova who unfortunately retired in the final set. However the students can confirm that throughout the game she made around 280 grunting noises as she hit her shots! Useful statistics for tennis fans everywhere!
The students were impeccably behaved with other spectators also commenting on how impressed they were with our students throughout the day. Another spectator could not believe that we were a comprehensive school with a tennis school on site. This was a great opportunity for all students involved so please ask them about this experience if you see them around school.
