Year 9 Cricket Team Defeat St. Lawrence College in County Cup
Our under 14 cricket side claimed a remarkable victory against St. Lawrence College last week. Our team consisted of players from three year groups and for some, it was their first ever experience of a competitive game.
The Canterbury Academy team bowled first and after 20 overs, St. Lawrence made 101. Our innings started in disastrous fashion and before too long, we were reduced to 8 for 4. With the top order gone, it was left to Laurence Taylor to begin a rebuilding job before the game swung in dramatic fashion as Jack Gooding (Year 7) and Callum Drake (Year 8) played brilliantly to see the side home quite comfortably.
Jack and Callum are pictured here.
This is an exceptional performance and means the team are now through to the quarter-finals of the county cup where they will face Sevenoaks School. Well done to the entire team and to Mr McCue for a resilient umpiring performance in the face of an arctic like breeze coming in off the Thanet coast.
The team included the following players.
Harry Fulton
Harry Beer
Oscar Walters
Dylan Rutherford
Arthur Williams
Lincoln Goldsack
Jack Gooding
Callum Drake
Fin Lynch
Alex Jobe
Laurence Taylor
