BTEC Level 2 First Award in Art and Design
Exam Board: Edexcel
BTECs are vocationally related qualifications, where learners develop knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work-related context. Additionally, they are popular and effective because they engage learners to take responsibility for their own learning and to develop skills that are essential for the modern-day workplace.
The BTEC can:
- encourage personal development through practical participation in a range of art and design disciplines both 2D and 3D.
- give learners a wider understanding and appreciation of art and design through a broad and balanced introduction to the core skills and knowledge necessary for work or further education in art and design
Assessment
Units 1,3 and 4 are internally assessed, with Unit 2 (externally set assignment) being externally assessed. All 4 units are given a grading through the criteria of PASS, MERIT, DISTINCTION or DISTINCTION * and are used with equal weighting to make an overall grade.
Enrichment Opportunities
Visits to University of Kent, Canterbury Galleries and Museums, Artists in Residence workshops, Kent wide Galleries and Museums, Kent locations for onsite drawing.
