Holiday Clubs and Activities
The Canterbury Academy Trust provides a host of extra-curricular activities and clubs for our primary and secondary students to participate in. There are a number of clubs run across all subjects during and after school. These are advertised within the school. A house system runs across the school with an extensive calendar of house competitions with points accrued going towards the overall House Competition.

Adopted Charity
The Canterbury Academy is proud to support the Friends of North Kigezi Diocese. This charity carries out valuable work in Uganda, providing homes, care and education for orphaned and needy children in North Kigezi Diocese. Each of The Canterbury Academy’s houses sponsors and specific child and received regular updates on their wellbeing and progress. Each house takes part and organises regular fund raising events for these and other worthy charitable organisations, as well as making regular monthly donations to support initiatives in the North Kigezi Diocese.
Royal Shakespeare Company
The Canterbury Academy is a Royal Shakespeare Company Lead Associate School in partnership with The Marlowe Theatre and The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). The prestigious status sees us work with 10 Kent schools to support active approaches to Shakespeare in the classroom. The programme includes training staff to build confidence and skill in our Associate Schools; embed active approaches in lessons; receive professional RSC productions and provides a variety of showcase performance opportunities in the local community, both in-school and at partner theatres.
Children’s University
The Canterbury Academy is a hub school of Kent Children’s University, which is a national organisation that provides children with exciting and informal learning experiences outside of school hours. Our Saturday morning activities are accredited by Kent Children’s University. They take place between 9.30am and 12 noon during term time. There are five modules in an academic year and four weeks in a module. Children choose from the courses on offer which they will attend for these 4 weeks. Our Saturday morning activities are open to children aged 7-14 years old, from all schools. As Children’s University members, children use their ‘Passport to Learning’ to record the hours they spend taking part in Children’s University accredited activities. Each activity they attend, they record and have stamped in their passports. Each year Kent Children’s University holds a graduation ceremony for eligible children at Canterbury Christ Church University.
