Enrichment forms a central part of our students’ experience here at The Canterbury Academy Sixth Form, where we not only provide opportunities to develop friendships and have fun but also chances to learn new skills, gain experience and prepare for future positive destinations. By taking full advantage of our enrichment offer, alongside academic study, students will have a wealth of experience and opportunity to refer to in their personal statements when applying for university, apprenticeships or employment.
We place a strong emphasis on developing leadership in our students. Our Student Leadership Team forms an integral part of our Sixth Form. Student leaders voice their fellow students, bring ideas and suggestions to the Sixth Form staff and write their Sixth Form magazine. Volunteering and the emphasis on ‘giving back’ is also an important part of our Sixth Form culture. Students volunteer as tour guides, decorate their Sixth Form areas, mentor younger students, run clubs at The Canterbury Primary School and support charitable causes across the community. In addition, there is a planned programme of trips and events scheduled throughout the year, culminating in the incredibly popular Sixth Form prom.
The Ambition Programme
The Ambition Programme is aimed at students who may wish to apply to competitive universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities.
We pride ourselves on our reputation for supporting students with their university placements through an extensive Careers Education, Information, Advice and guidance programme including tutorials and subject-based support.
