Everything you have heard about applying to university might just be right. From choosing the right course and editing the 12th draft of your personal statement to navigating the world of UCAS, it can be a busy time. But we will support you through the whole process.
First, think about what course do you want to do
It can be useful to think of it in three stages.
- What have you been studying so far?
- What interests you the most?
- Where do you excel?
When you know the answer to all these questions it will help you plan your next step. We invite all students to come to the Higher Education Conference every year where every university in the country comes together to showcase what their university has to offer. This trip is advertised in Core lessons and is free of charge for all Sixth Form students.

Information and Guidance for Students
An important part of our responsibility is to prepare our students for their progression and advancement beyond school. Our prime objective when it comes to Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), is to ensure our students have access to the best possible opportunities following their time in education and that they are the most prepared applicants when applying for their future prospects in a competitive world.
It is vital that all students are completely supported and guided through the process of planning their futures. Students from Years 3 to 14 access a CEIAG programme and are prepared for their futures. We have a comprehensive curriculum of careers education that is delivered through our Core lessons, special careers events, enrichment programmes, visits, trips, and assemblies. Individual departments and mentor groups also take part in activities.
Careers Interviews
Careers interviews and drop-in sessions happen on a daily basis, whilst Core lessons, guest visits and CEIAG sessions help to provide students with dispensable exposure to the world of work and education. All students can meet with our Careers Coordinator for individual advice about options, future choices, UCAS planning and applications, CV workshops, interview preparation, apprenticeship applications and any other guidance they need. We also welcome parents to contact us for any advice or guidance they require. The Careers Coordinator is always in attendance at Parents’ Evenings and Learning at the Academy Evenings for all Years 7 to 13.
