The course combines performance, choreography, and theoretical study, exploring professional works and developing students\u2019 understanding of dance in a wider context.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aims of the Course <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Students should have an enthusiasm for movement and creativity, as well as a willingness to develop their physical and expressive skills. While prior dance experience is helpful, commitment, discipline, and an openness to learning different styles and techniques are essential for success.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assessment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assessment 1: Theory (40%)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The written exam (1 hour 30 minutes) assesses students\u2019 theoretical understanding of dance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It includes analysis of professional works from the prescribed anthology, questions on choreographic processes, and an evaluation of their own performance and choreographic work.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non-examination Assessment:  Performance and Choreography. (60%)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The practical component consists of two key areas:<strong> <\/strong>Performance and Choreography. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will perform set phrases and a duo\/trio dance, demonstrating technical control and expressive qualities. For choreography, they will create a solo or group piece in response to a set stimulus, developing their skills in composition and movement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Next Steps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This course provides an excellent foundation for further study in A-Level Dance, BTEC Performing Arts, or vocational training.
