Our Nurture Pathway for Post-16 learners<\/strong> typically support young people aged 16+ who may need extra help transitioning into further education, training, or employment. These learners may have experienced social, emotional, or mental health challenges, or may be working below age-related expectations due to various reasons (e.g. trauma, disrupted education, SEND).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is an outline of what a Post-16 Nurture Pathway<\/strong> might include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aims of the Nurture Pathway<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Build confidence, resilience, and independence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Develop social and emotional skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Support academic or vocational progress at an appropriate level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Help young people transition into adulthood, work, or further learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Who is it for?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • Aged 16\u201319<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • May have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Working below GCSE Level (e.g., Entry Level or Level 1).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • May have struggled in mainstream education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Needs a safe, supportive environment to thrive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      What does it look like at The Canterbury Academy?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      • Students attend sessions in a dedicated nurture space<\/strong>, designed to feel safe, calm, and welcoming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • The group size is smaller to allow personalised attention<\/strong> and the opportunity to build trusting relationships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Students have a carefully adapted timetable<\/strong>, which may include a blend of the following offer:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
