At The Canterbury Primary School, we are committed to nurturing successful, determined, and imaginative learners. Our rich and relevant curriculum is designed with our vision and values at its core, ensuring a well-rounded education for all students. The curriculum is delivered through thoughtfully planned topics that include educational trips, guest visitors, and themed days to enrich the children\u2019s learning experiences. Personal and social development is also a key focus, with dedicated lessons aimed at fostering these essential life skills.

Each class engages with six new topics annually, providing a broad range of learning opportunities. These topics are carefully aligned with the National Curriculum and begin with immersive launch experiences to spark students\u2019 curiosity. Under each topic, students learn across multiple subjects, with explicit links made between lessons and core concepts to enhance understanding. Reading, writing, and, where possible, maths are integrated into the termly themes, supported by carefully selected books that complement the topic.

As a school that values all talents, we encourage students to discover and develop their strengths and passions through diverse learning experiences. In Key Stage 1, students participate in weekly enrichment afternoons, designed to help them explore their interests. This continues into Key Stage 2, where students join weekly \u2018Pillar lessons,\u2019 delivered by specialist teachers from The Canterbury Academy offering a deeper focus on their chosen areas.

We believe that knowledge of foreign languages is crucial for our students to thrive as global citizens. At The Canterbury Primary School, we offer French and Spanish, taught by a dedicated languages teacher. This provision is delivered in both Key Stage 1 and 2, ensuring all students receive high-quality language instruction throughout their primary education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transition<\/h3>

Preparing students for the transition from primary to secondary school is an integral part of our curriculum. We focus on building independence and resilience throughout the curriculum, culminating in Year 6 with a tailored transition programme to ensure students are well-prepared for the next stage of their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extra-Curricular<\/h3>
